Some new things...

Last weekend I managed to do some sewing and I made two pleated skirts inspired by Emmerson Made's pocket skirt. I did end up making a mustard yellow one as well but it's not quite finished.

I wish I had more time to sew and the piles of fabric that I want to turn into something are growing and growing. Now that I have my sewing corner set up I have the luxury of leaving everything and not having to tidy up after every time I sit down to do a little work on a project.

Do you sew at all? I hope to share a few more projects on here but fear not, Living In won't turn into a sewing blog, I have far too many other interests and things to share ;-)

I've been looking for a locket pendant for some time and was so pleased to find this perfectly round one through Bon'A Parte. I really love it but will have to eventually replace the chain as it's really thin and I worry it might break if the boys get hold of it.

My final purchase to share are some fun wooden clogs. I still remember as a little girl I used to wear my grandmother's clogs in her garden. They were way too big but I loved the sound of them on the garden path. I chose ones with a Missoni inspired pattern made by danish company Sanita (also available through Amazon). I think they are quite nostalgic with a modern twist.

Stripe Mania

I thought it would be fun to take part in Holly Becker's stripe mania party: Bloggers wearing stripes.
It's a fun way to get to know other bloggers a little more, we know each other virtually but we wouldn't necessarily recognise one another on the street.

Her's my photo:

There's also a little story to this outfit that I wore to a friend's wedding. I had spend weeks making a silk one shoulder dress for the occasion and when it was finally fished the day before the wedding I didn't want to wear it - I couldn't put my finger on it but it just didn't feel right. You know the feeling :-) Well, in my despair I decided to make this black & white skirt out of some IKEA fabric I had left over. I ended up finishing the hem and closure in the car on the way to the venue - that's me haha.

Outfit breakdown:
Skirt: made by me using IKEA fabric
Top: H&M
Headpiece: Zara
Bracelet: Gift from my very stylish mother-in-law

I would love it if you took part as well. Go Stripe Mania!

Danish Fashion Label - Container

I am going to start the week off with a new fashion discovery I made over the weekend. Have you heard of danish label Container?

Container has a romantic, eclectic feel and beautifully combines vintage elements with modern trends.

I practically live in dresses, especially during summer. I do sometimes find it hard to find the right styles that aren't too formal for an average day with my boys yet still make me feel pretty and stylish. The dresses below have the perfect mix.

You must visit their website that in itself is an inspiration and their catalogue is stunning.

Simply Loving EmmersonMade

Over the weekend I stumbled across an American fashion label I had not heard of before: EmmersonMade. I literally want to buy every single item - their style is 100% my taste.

According to their website: "EmersonMade is a company that believes in celebrating the uniqueness of the individual, the joy of being alive and all the smallness that makes up the Big Beautiful."

Let's take a look at their current collection shall we?

In case you were wondering how people live that design amazing clothes like these, take a peek at Sweet Paul's blog here. He was responsible for styling Emmerson and Ryan's New Hampshire home for The Nest Magazine.

Welcoming Spring

I know I am jumping the gun a bit but spring is almost here and what better way to welcoming the new season than to put some fresh flowers into the home and squeeeeeze into those white jeans that have been hiding in the back of the wardrobe for months.

So as you see, white isn't only my favourite colour for interiors. One note of caution if you are new to white jeans - make sure you don't wear all white or else you'll be mistaken for a dental nurse and always wear non visible underwear :-)

The images below are from BON'A PARTE's spring collection.  Originally a Danish fashion retailer, they now have stores in Sweden, Holland, Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Their style is simple with clean lines and a muted colour palette.

Boden Spring/Summer Collection

Let me introduce you to one of my new favourite online clothing shops: Boden. I received their beautiful catalogue last week. They are a UK clothing label and you can now order from Germany. The winter collection was very bold and colourful with lots of rich pattern and layered textures. Spring/summer is much softer with lots of pastels but they continue to mix patterns beautifully.

Here's a peek into their new collection - makes me forget about the cold and excited about spring.
